Art Wolfe

Art Wolfe es un artista, productor de televisión, conservacionista y fotógrafo estadounidense (nacido el 13 de septiembre de 1951 en Seattle, donde vive), que en su carrera de 30 años, ha trabajado en cada continente y en centenares de localizaciones. Sus imponentes imágenes interpretan y registran fauna en peligro de desaparición, paisajes y culturas nativas, y son una inspiración duradera a los que intentan preservarlos. Sus fotografías se reconocen en el mundo entero por su maestría del color, composición y perspectiva.

 

 

 

 

 

Biografía

Hijo de artistas, Wolfe nació en Seattle. Se graduó en la Universidad de Washington en las licenciaturas de Bellas Artes y Educación del Arte. En 1999 lo nombraron en la revista de la Asociación de Alumnos de UW como uno de los 100 “más famosos, fascinadores e influyentes” alumnos del siglo XX.

Wolfe pasa casi nueve meses al año viajando, investigando cuidadosamente localizaciones así como la pre visualización de las fotografías que él quiere tomar. Es miembro honorario de la Royal Photographic Society, miembro de International League of Conservation Photographers  y presta servicio en los comités consultivos de la Nature's Best Foundation and Bridges to Understanding. Durante una década hasta que se disolvió en 2007, también trabajó en el comité consultivo de la  Wildlife Conservation Society.

Se aventuró en el mundo de la televisión con On Location with Art Wolfe, Techniques of the Masters que se vieron en la ESPN de 1993 a 1995. En 2007 debutó en la televisión pública con su serie en alta definición Art Wolfe’s Travels to the Edge, con la que ha ganado diversos premios.

Wolfe habrá obtenido un millón de imágenes en su larga carrera y ha escrito unos sesenta libros, algunos de los cuales han obtenido premios, como Vanishing Act, The Living Wild, Africa, Edge of the Earth Corner of the Sky y otros, como Light on the Land y Migrations están en la lista de los 100 mejores libros publicados en los 90.

Wolfe mantiene su galería, su agencia de stock de fotografías, su productora y su escuela de fotografía digital en el distrito SODO de Seattle.
